Electrotherapy

A comfortable, non-invasive treatment aimed at aiding in your treatment.

At our clinic, electrotherapy is used in conjunction with other modalities, such as chiropractic and massage therapy, to enhance outcomes further. It allows our practitioners to address a stubborn issue by releasing tension in the superficial layers of soft tissue before treating the problem more deeply.

Treatment allows us to do two things at once, covering more areas.

ELECTROTHERAPY

What is Electrotherapy?

Interferential Current (IFC) Therapy is a type of electrotherapy used primarily for pain relief, muscle stimulation, and increased blood flow. It involves the use of medium-frequency electrical currents  (Typically 4,000–5,000 Hz) that are passed through the skin to the underlying tissues.

How It Works:

Two medium-frequency currents are applied through electrodes placed on the skin.
These currents intersect or "interfere" with each other at a targeted tissue depth.
The interference creates a low-frequency stimulation effect (e.g., 1–250 Hz) deep within the tissue.
This effect stimulates nerves and muscles without causing discomfort at the skin surface, unlike some other forms of electrical stimulation.

Benefits:

  • Deeper penetration than TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation)

  • Less skin irritation

  • Comfortable and non-invasive
