Massage therapy is a proven technique for relieving pain and tension. It is a mainstay technique, and in our clinic, we utilise it in conjunction with other methods to enhance the effectiveness of our treatment. Our clinic offers a Remedial Massage Therapy modality to help you claim private health insurance benefits. Please let our reception know if you would like to use this claim.
At our clinic, we employ two primary techniques: Trigger Point Release Therapy and Myofascial Release Therapy.
These techniques help to:
-
Release tension
-
Improve blood flow
-
Restore mobility
-
Reduce pain
Trigger Point Release Therapy
This is a manual therapy technique used to relieve muscle tension and pain caused by trigger points — small, tight knots that can form in muscles and the surrounding fascia (connective tissue).
These trigger points often refer pain to other areas of the body.
They can be active (causing pain even at rest) or latent (only painful when pressure is applied).
Often caused by:
-
Repetitive strain or overuse
-
Muscle imbalances
-
Stress or poor posture
-
Acute injuries

Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR)
This is a type of manual therapy that focuses on relieving pain and improving movement by releasing tension in the myofascial tissues — the tough membranes that wrap, connect, and support your muscles. "Myofascial" = muscle (myo) + fascia (connective tissue).
Fascia is a thin, strong, elastic connective tissue that wraps around muscles, bones, and organs. When fascia becomes tight or stuck (due to injury, inflammation, poor posture, or stress), it can cause pain, stiffness, or restricted movement.
Unlike deep tissue massage, it involves slow, deliberate pressure and stretching, often holding the position for several minutes.
